In view of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the high demand for disinfectants, the President of the Authority, in a communication dated 7 August 2020, introduced the possibility of an expedited registration procedure for this product category.
However, from 1 June 2021, the rationale for authorising the making available on the market and use of biocidal products by way of derogation from the registration requirements will no longer apply to biocidal products that are disinfection products. In addition, biocidal products placed on the market before 1 June 2021 on the basis of an authorisation obtained in accordance with Article 55 ust. Biocidal products referred to in Article 55(1) of Regulation No 528/2012 may remain on the market until the expiry date stated on their label.
